Let¡¯s have a few words about this collection, which is a completely new one, as it started to be collected only less from 2 years ago. The aim wasn¡¯t to be exhaustive but the choice founded in the shops wasn¡¯t so large as it was dreamed so now this collection covers a major part of what can be found in Chengdu and even on the mainland China: if you go to one book shop you will find maybe one quarter of this collection if you¡¯re lucky. The collection lacks only on some children¡¯s material and beginners even if there is some choice in this list already, because I didn¡¯t find so interessing to collect all of this books too. 65830 pages here. It should be added some 7000 pages from reviews (weiqi tiandi, weiqi arts) so lets say in all something like 75 000 pages 21*14cm to appreciate or study!

The bookstores are working in the same way as in Europe, they sell new books and don¡¯t take care of having some more interessing choice as this. Some small stores are selling commercial books, cheap ones and always the same, with some colourful couverture¡­. and some funny surprising writing inside too!This apply to some weiqi books: in this collection <only 5 books which are signaled (CH)>. Very few places are selling old books and it¡¯s important to check them from time to time. The hard covers books (H) are all books of excellence for the quality of outside and inside together.

Quelques mots d¡¯introduction sur cette collection: elle est tres recente car la collecte n¡¯a demarre qu¡¯il y a seulement moins de 2 ans. L¡¯exhaustivite n¡¯etait pas un but au depart mais le choix s¡¯est revele moins ample que souhaite et du coup cette collection couvre l¡¯essentiel de ce que l¡¯on peut trouver a Chengdu et voir meme en Chine continentale. Si vous trouver 1/4 de cette liste en entrant dans un magasin, vous aurez deja bien de la chance. La collection est nettement poins exhaustive pour ce qui concerne les livres pour debutants et pour enfants, meme si ce sont des domaines aussi representes ici, simplement j¡¯ai trouve moins interessant de rassembler tout les livres sur ce sujet. 65830 pages donc ici, if faut ajouter celles des revues (format A4) soit donc en tout l¡¯equivalent de 75000 pages 21*14cm a etudier ou a regarder pour le plaisir!

Les librairies travaillent comme en Europe, elles se focalisent sur les nouveautes et reachalande peu leur choix de livres; des petites librairies commerciales offrent des livres bas de gamme sous des couvertures clinquantes (5 dans cette liste signales comme CH ). Tres peu d¡¯endroits distribuent ou revendent des livres moins recents. Les livres avec une couverture rigide (H) sont tous d¡¯execellente qualite, pour l apparence comme pour le contenu.

Note 1:

The guanzipu is one of the four most important ancient Chinese weiqi classics. The name ¡°Guanzi¡± in modern Chinese weiqi terms means ¡°endgame¡±. But in traditional Chinese it means looking for the excellent moves in any situation. It includes all the concepts in weiqi , life and death, joseki, tesuji, tricks, ¡­ and endgame of course too. The guanzipu treats about all these and even more, but nowadays, it¡¯s more well known as a collection of life and death problems.

In this booklist there are 3 books about it:

-51: the most extensive version, originally published by the Nihon Kiin and commented by Go sei gen.

-20: a revised version by Jiang zhu jiu and Jiang ming jiu. To be more practical, they improved it with more detailed solutions (more diagrams for each problem) but they maintained less problems as in the go sei gen version. For the use of the modern readers they reorganized the book in six new chapters.

-09: This book is the newest revised version by Chen zhi xing. Based on the Jiang brothers version (20), it makes some complements and corrections on it. It adds 4 chapters for self-testing

Le guanzipu est l¡¯un des quatre principaux classiques chinois sur le weiqi. Le mot ¡°guanzi¡± signifie ¡°fin de partie¡± dans le vocabulaire chinois moderne du weiqi. Cependant en chinois traditionel, son sens est ¡°rechercher les meilleurs coups dans toute situation¡±. Ceci s¡¯applique a tout les concepts du jeu: vie et mort, joseki, tesuji, hamete,¡­ et fin de partie aussi bien sur. Le guanzipu traite de tout ceci et meme plus encore, mais de nos jour, il est surtout connu pour etre une collection de problemes de vie et de mort.

Dans cette liste de livres il y a 3 livres a son sujet:

              -51: la version la plus extensive, publie a l¡¯origine par la Nihon Kiin et commente par go sei gen.

              -20: une version revisee par Jiang zhu jiu and Jiang ming jiu. Pour ameliorer son utilisation, ils ont reorganize le livre en six nouveau chapitres. Ils ont ajoute plus de diagrammes pour les solutions mais ont garde moins de problemes que dans la version de go sei gen.

             -09: Ce livre est la version revisee la plus recente par Chen zhi xing. Base sur la version des freres Jiang (20), il contient 4 nouveaux chapitres pour l¡¯auto evaluation. Il apporte aussi quelques corrections et complements au livre precedent.

Note 2:

      Presentation of the Chinese professional players, pictures and last ranking. All the games of the year¡¯s main tournaments, including some major amateur tournaments. One third is dedicated to the international tournaments too.

      Presentation des joueurs professionals chinois, leur photos et leur dernier classement. Toutes les parties des principaux tournois de l¡¯annee, y compris certains tournois amateur. Un tiers de l¡¯ouvrage traite aussi des tournois internationaux.
